It seems longer than a week since I left La Charité! Last Saturday morning, I took a last look at the farmer's market. After three rail trips, three cities and three rail strike days, rebooking and cancellations, we have arrived in Aberdeen where we will be boarding the ferry for our overnight trip to Lerwick.

Our London time was cut short by the job action of railway workers. Inflation and higher energy costs
mean workers will need higher wages. On to Edinburgh. We enjoyed our visits to Holyrood, the Royal Mile and The National Museum of Scotland. Our hotel, on Princes Street had a postcard view of the Old Town.

I've never visited Aberdeen before. It is the third most populous city in Scotland and has been inhabited for more than 8,000 years. We are staying in Shiprow Village, the oldest part of the city. This was once the trading area of the city. Now, it is home to cobbled pedestrian street with seafood restaurants and bars.

Christina has not visited Scotland before. It's fun to share this discovery of our family roots. We are definitely descended from fishers and sailors!
